Why do brain function and motivation change as we age, and what does this mean for metabolic health?
We study how signalling systems in the brain regulate behaviour, metablism, and ageing. In particular, we focus on dopamine, a key neurotransmitter involved in ageing, inflammation, and metablic dysfunction. However, the underlying mechanisms, and how these changes interact with diet and physiology, are still not fully understood.
Our research explores how these signalling pathways are altered by factors such as ageing and diet, and how they contribute to cognitive decline and metabolic imbalance. By understand how brain signalling changes over time, we aim to uncover mechanisms that support both metabolic health and healthy ageing.
